Beyond Academics
How To Use MindSage Lessons
Simple. Consistent. Thought-Provoking.
01 — Three Short Sections
Ideally, you’ll want to:
Start a new lesson each week on Monday
Each lesson is divided into three sections which are labeled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
It is important that you only consider one section on each of those days.
MindSage uses a micro-learning, metacognitive approach. This means there is not a lot of information in each section of the lesson.
The real transformative power is in taking time to really think about what you read. There is a metacognitive goal for each lesson. The metacognitive work will be done over the course of the week in your day-to-day life. It is important that you do this work.
Throughout the week, try to be aware of how (and why) you think and act the way you do, in relation to the information in the lesson. Are there any changes that you need to make?
Take your time. Stop and answer the questions that are posed. Don’t just read the questions without answering them. We suggest you write your answers in a journal. You’ll be amazed at how much you learn about yourself.
The last day should include some sort of discussion. If you are taking this program in school, you can discuss what you learned about yourself in class.
If you are not taking the MindSage training as part of a class, we recommend you discuss what you’ve learned about yourself with your friend, classmates, and family.
You can also join a workshop and learn as part of a team. You’ll be able to share what you learned about yourself in the workshop each Friday.

Steps for Effective Use
-
Lessons are broken up into at least three sections and should be covered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday if at all possible.
-
Don’t rush through the sections. Really think about and answer the questions. Write down your thoughts and observations. These lessons can help develop the best version of you possible. But you’ll need to honestly examine how and why you think and act the way you do to determine if changes are needed. So take your time.
-
The metacognitive goals are extremely important and powerful. It can change your view of yourself, your skills, and your outlook on life. If you do the work, these lessons can help you become successful in anything you choose to do in the future. Don’t limit yourself. Commit. Take the time now to learn about who you really are and what you’re capable of achieving.
